Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
Bosses
Avanoxx
Avanoxx has a couple of AOE tantrum type mechanics that need ramped nearly each time due to the tick rate of the damage.
Alerting Shrill is the first instance of damage and typically the more dangerous one, it hits the hardest and fastest of the two. The Gossamer Onslaught is the other form of AOE that summons area denial circles during the cast but it doesn’t tick as quickly as Alerting Shrill. You can handle both of these with a typical ramp sequence of Enveloping Mist on your squishiest players (2 dps and yourself or 3 dps depending on defensives available) and using Sheilun’s Gift once people are low to top them for the rest of the mechanic before topping them using Ancient Teachings during the down phase. Chi-Ji is useful for cycling defensives though you won’t be able to get much healing out of the Gust of Mist for the Alerting Shrill due to the damage tick rate so I usually use it on the Gossamer Onslaught which also requires movement
This boss summons groups of ads which work very well with Jade Empowerment to top the group to prepare for the next mechanic but they should be dead by the time the Gossamer Onslaught or next Alerting Shrill happen.
Avanoxx also has a decent sized tank buster so they occasionally may need an Enveloping Mist or other form of spot healing. Using the tank as your anchor for Sheilun’s Gift also works.
Anub’zekt
This boss is a lot more tame than it was in Season 1. It’s mostly spot healing and ad control with kicks and getting the mobs into melee, and just watching the target of the swarm.
If an add does get a cast off on a player, you can use Tiger’s Lust on the target to free them but the mob will immediately recast.
Ki’katal the Harvester
This boss got a bit easier due to less poison dispels going out on each set but they do hit a bit harder. It should be easier to maintain decent melee uptime but there’s no required CD rotation here as the damage is pretty consistently random.
Chi-Ji is an anti-root/anti-slow so make sure that you are not consuming puddles during Chi-Ji because it will remove it from the ground and prevent other people from grabbing it, as well as not rooting you for the pull in. That being said, Mistweaver never needs to take the puddles because we can use Transcendence on every pull-in.
Trash Packs
Hulking Bloodguard
Locust Swarm is the main damage mechanic and it is a ticking channel that lasts for 8 seconds and deal lots of damage group-wide. This is longer than a lot of our amps but you have other mobs to hit so you can heal initially by applying our amps and extending them, into a Sheilun’s Gift and finishing off with a Jade Empowerment.
Chi-Ji of course is also useful here but the damage ticks very fast so it may be more of an Enveloping Mist and Enveloping Breath tool than Gust of MIst.
